Thumbs up The Stealth BOMB'r is under the knife

So I've been wanting to tear the engine and trans down here for a while and finally have the time to do it.

Right now, the truck sits at 742 HP and 1492 TQ. The goal for the truck is 800 - 850 on motor and 1000 on nitrous.

The trans is already built, it's just getting torn down to freshen it up and replace the clutch packs and seals and make sure nothing funky is going on with the shaft, drums, levers, etc.

Stuff that I'm doing to the motor, beyond what it already has is a new cam, 12V connecting rods, electric fans, main studs, head is getting cut for rings, TS Performance PowerFool 2 nitrous and (depending on the condition of the current pistons) they be getting coated or replaced if needed. At a minimum, new rings will be going in.

I'm thinking about putting bigger twins on it also, but that's kinda back burner. Right now I have a set of ATS 3000 over 5000 twins on it. I'm thinking about going to an S330 over an S480.

Anyways, the motor will be out this evening. The trans is already, several pieces and parts are already here, so here's a few pics of the current progress.....and yes, it's all being done in-house, except the machine work on the block (just a good honing) and heads (cut for fire rings).

looks like fun... hopefully i can get my engine back together soon these past 2 months have been killen me...

I tell ya what, if anyone EVER wants to build a motor.......make SURE you do it BEFORE you do twin turbo's, dual CP's, water / meth, all kinds of sensors and crap, etc.....

It's so much more of a PITA to pull these things with all the crap on it.

It's like working on a damn PowerStroke.

i know exactly what you mean, i'm on a mission to do a BIG cleanup under the hood, and removing a lot of stuff i dont need, with the 3 wastegates i had and all the twins piping, you cant see anything more than the part of the valve cover thats not under the firewall, you cant even see that big, beautifull s400 sitting down in there, and even getting the air filter off can be a chore, but hopefully a little clean up will solve some of the issues

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing.

While the motor and trans are out, I'm redoing all the line, wires, tubes, etc.

I'm moving the batteries to the rear of the truck, where the spare tire used to be.

The water/meth and nitrous solenoids are getting put up under the wiper cowl.

I'm running dedicated positive and negative studs for all the extra power accessories so I don't have 100 wires running to the back.

Cleaning up all the miscellaneous fuel supply and return lines, etc.

I want to be able to see everything in there again.

thats a great idea, i think i might move the optimas to the tool box, and the w/m solinoids and wires are an eye soar, the cowl sound like a very clean idea, i'm going to look in to doing that

Man, it's like a cavern under that wiper cowl.

Lots of room.

Anything that I can hide and isn't too water sensitive is going in there.

wow!, i thought i had a lot of crap on the side of my engine, thoes common rails are out of control, tearing down is the easy part, i hate putting it all back together but i got my engine pretty much all back together tonight and hopefully tomarror i will be
