Default Here's how to get rid of the straight pipe drone with 4" exhaust

The sound of my truck straight piped was awesome, but the drone while towing made my ears bleed. This has proven very effective at eliminating that drone almost completely! The sound while cruising is EXACTLY as it was straight piped. This is the best of both worlds!

First cut a piece of 6" aluminized tubing 12" in length. Then cut 4" perforated with 37%open area to 12" also. Then cut 3/16 plated to act as end caps to hold together the whole thing.Name: 4inchmuff1.jpg

Next weld the end caps and 4 inch tubing to hold together one side. Then pack the other side with glass and weld it up as well.Name: 4inchmuff2.jpg

This is the finished muffler:

Now for the install! This is what makes the biggest difference in drone reduction. It goes in right after the rear end! This section of tubing is where most of the drone comes from. I put some tubing in after the muffler to help with scavenging.Name: 4inchmuff5.jpg

I've had it like this for a couple weeks and love it! Without a trailer, on the freeway you don't even hear the exhaust. When towing you hear the exhaust but not as a deep bass sound that's going to pop your ears. Here's what it sounds like:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBTbv...?v=H3U6DBdARYo

I'll post up a drive by and freeway videos as I get a chance. Thanks for looking!

I'm still trying to get the drive by video. Is this forum very big? I'm surprised not many people have seen this thread.
