Question tachometer hook up

got a 93 d350 5.9 12v**got a magnetic pick up on the dampner**wires go into this wire harness**truck came with no tach**can i use an ordenary tach or do i need a special one?? where under the dash can i find the two wires coming off that p/u on the crank?? just going to put it up in the windshield area cuz i dont want to drill the dash**so i was think of a 2 1/2 or 3" face**any body got one or any sugesstions?? thanks mike

check out dakota digital on ebay, they have adapters to run any tach you want, with a pickup sensor installed in the bellhousing (thats what i have) or a pickup that goes on the altinator, other wise i dont think any other tach will work, unless you fand an original cluster with a tach, but still, the wiring may/maynot be there, there are also diesel mini tachs, i know summit racing sells them, and they have a pickup that clamps around the altinator, but to me the clamp is a bit of an eye soar and the tach is too small for my likes

well... if its there, its probably part of the gauge cluster, probably have to get a manual and trace the wires...
