Default 97 CTD auto stalls in reverse under load

My wife and I just got this 2wd truck with ~135K on it to help us move. We are using it to pull a small 16ft enclosed trailer.

I went to back the empty trailer into our driveway and I got stopped at the curb. I was backing in very slowly and my passenger side front tired came up against the curb and I could not pull it over. Whenever I would try, the truck would stall and die.

Before you make fun of my driving, the driveway is a s shape culdesac PITA drive ....

Anyway,
The tire came up against the 4" curb and rather than hop up on it, the truck died. Wheels were turned about 75% one way so I thought that make it was just too much for the truck.

Then today my wife was backing it into the new driveway (nice and straight) with a loaded trailer and it died going through the gutter and backing up the driveway.

Neither driveway is crazy grade or anything but the motor was loading up.

So,
Where should I start looking?

Thanks
