Default 04 Ram 2500- Stuck Rear Caliper- need input

Looking for some advice on this issue. My left rear brake caliper is stuck and creating a burning smell from the pads. Mechanic says there are hot spots on the rotor and I will need to replace: rotor, pads, caliper and hose.

Is this the case? Any help, suggestions, links to previous threads, etc. would be appreciated. Looks like a dual piston caliper so it sounds expensive.

you could do a rebuild on it... cheeper than replacing it most of the time. Napa may have one at a decent price, call them. also make sure there is no gunk in the lines when you do replace it, it could be dirt has jammed up the piston(s).

yes, i would also flush the brake fluid while your at it and bleed all the brakes with new fluid.

In your experience do you agree that the rotor has to be replaced as well?

to be safe yes, i would replace both, due to the fact of overheating the rotor and possibly warping it

you could possibly get it truned if it is within specs, but if its heat checked i would replace it, replacing it is a better idea either way tho, and with a stuck caliper, i would replace caliper with new as it could be damaged internally, and you need hones to properly rebuild it and the whole process can be a real PITA at times

as mentioned... it depends on how much it can be turned to make it true again. if it were me, I'd upgrade & do both sides with new rotors & pads.
