Vin code when ordering parts?

Vin code when ordering parts?
Looking at parts online for my 2004 RAM, after selecting diesel engine it then gives choice for "Vin C" or "Vin 6". No other explanation.
Can someone shed light on this? I looked at my vin thinking it would be the first character or something, but doesn't appear to be.
and, does anyone know the difference?
