Default 2005 lift pump

I have a 2005 2500 Ram that runs perfectly at 72,000 mile. But it has come to my attension that at 79,000 miles +/- this item goes fails. The Dodge dealer can't tell me if the pump is in the tank or external, but if it fails they would replace it into the tank. Others perfer external so as to be able to replace easily if it fails. I am confused as to the best location and if I should be concerned.

for a stock pump you can only get the in tank pump, personally i would go with an aftermarket external pump if it needs it, fass and air dog make good systems
