Towing question
I have a 2008 Ram 2500 series with the 6.7 diesel. Am thinking of buying a fifth wheel toy hauler around 11000 lbs dry. My truck is a laramie but didnt have the camper tow package. Is there anything I need to add to this truck? Do I need to add a trans cooler? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Dont wanna burn anything up.
What's the max tow rating of the truck? Bumper pull is 12,000, 5th wheel/gooseneck is 14k right? You're going to have less than 3000 pounds worth of food, water, gear, and toys?
Also keep in mind the tongue weight is factored into the payload.

I think you are right on with the tow ratings. I was just wondering if not having the camper tow package (not sure what it consists of) would put my engine or trans in any kind of risk. Thanks for all replys.
IT does have the regular hitch set up. And Im sure it has a trans radiator. I was just wondering what you get with camper tow package that is different and did I need to install this before heavy towing.
I don't think there is a camper tow package any longer, but I don't know what year they stopped offering that and if they just incorporated some of the features into the standard RAM? We do know that (when offered) it changed the rear leaf springs and added a rear anti-sway bar.
