Default track bar question

Hello all, I just purchased a solid steel industries trackbar/bracket upgrade to 2003 for my brother's 99 ram. The problem I'm having is getting putting the new one in. I can get the axle end in fine, but the bracket end seems to want to stay about 1 inch in front of the bracket tabs(toward the front of the vehicle). I assume it's supposed to be parrallel, but its not, and i already ruined a bushing trying to get it in. Any ideas on how to allign it correctly? I know that length adjustment can be done by turing the wheels. I thought maybe the toe in adjustment was really off on one side, but I'm not sure how to adjust it. Thanks.
