Question is it true? what damage does it do?

1993 5.9 12v cummins, mechanical engine. i have read, and also heard that running waste oil in with the diesel fuel will not hurt any thing on this engine with this style pump. but also hear from som other people that say that is not true , and that no matter what pump that i have it will tear out the pump,. so wich way do i go?? i have a 30 gal fuel tank, how much can i mix? and will it take out the pump, injectors, etc.....i have access to all the waste oil i can get, but do not want to hurt my engine or components. i have a hand pump with a mounted filter system that will filter the oil. but like i said i have read here on this site about this pump will take and burn what ever you can put thru it as long as it is filtered good . not talking about bio diesel,... i am talking about used motor oil ,.
thanks for your help. by the way mine is all stock top to bottom
thanks again mike

i burn all kinds of used crap in my fuel, engine, hydraulic oils mainly, about 20% normally, and i have even gone up to 80% with no problems other than a strange exhaust smell, but i get about 3 more mpg's and cooler egt's on the waste oil, my 75 is running the stock cummins fuel filter, and my 98 has a 2 micron filter w/water seperator,

You just dump used motor oil into the gas tank and call it good?

I work at a dealership and if I can get away with it, I've got all the free waste oil I could ever want.

Holy crap that would be awesome - only paying ~$30-50 per tank instead of $90+ would be swell!

you say that you do this?? have you ever had any pump problems?? injector issues??? mine is all stock,i have heard that u can do this but just a little leary of it. dont care about the smell,(the guy behind me might), but i just dont want to hurt any components.so if i have a 30 gal fuel tank i can run 15 deisel & 15 used motor oil without damage??? how long have you been running your like that??
thanks mike

i havent had any problems at all, just start with a small mix and see what you think, then add more if you want

and yes, anytime i do an oil change, i use a very clean pan, drain it and dump it right back in the tank, as long as i know the history of the engine it came from

i dont mean to tell anyone that its a good idea, or it wont hurt anything, because sh*t happens, this is just my personal expierence, and i would NOT do this to a 24 valve, and a side note... if you get a DOT tank dip, you have a little explaining to do...

i normally dump a five gallon bucket in at a time, some times two, all depends on how high the pump prices are

Dont really know much about it yet except for the ansewers to my questions that i am asking. But i do know that not all pumps will handle it,, some older styles will (i hear) but i hear that the newer pumps will not handle it (the waste). So lets hear what others say. Mine is a 93 5.9 12v old style pump and they say that you can put anything that is filtered thru it. I put 5 gals in yesterday so we will see.
