VP44 Rebuild & installation?
OK, original post was on re-building them and saving $$. I just found all the posts/thread about that and answered most of my questions.
THis is my third IP on this truck from 72K to 184K miles.
THis time my pump only lasted 17,000 miles and just over a year. Does Bosch offer their own mileage warranty?
This is getting insane. The second time it went I had installed a fuel pressure gauge and helper pump to keep the psi around 12-15 under a load and 20 at idle. This is what the cummins guy told me would help the IP's lifespan.
What is going on here? BAD reman's? Last Two remans have came from diesel care and performance, Inc. http://www.dieselcare.us/
anything I should know about them? Can't see anywhere that they are Bosch certified but I guess they would have to be right?
COuld that be the reason for these failures. IS it better to go right to Bosch?
OR I am thinking the 'back yard mechanic's ' we have around here installed it incorrectly. This is a big one for me. Either that or the reman was bad.
Any thoughts on why (with propper care to the IP) this thing died at only 17K.
For this reason, I am thinking that the mechanical parts and seals, etc. and the way that works is ok but the EDC is dead?
Thanks
