Default truck upgrade

I have jsut purchased a 2006 Dodge 2500 with a 5.9L. It currently has 51,000 miles on it. I am looking to upgrade the exhaust and the air intake and am wondering what the best product is for this. I have been looking but have been unable to decide. My buddy has a Ford that he upgraded and I hate to be outdone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Since you said it has the 5.9L I'm assuming you have the Cummins. Moving this to the Cummins Diesel section for you, you'll get more answers here.

What type of upgrades are you wanting? 4" exhaust, 5", Cold Air Intake, injectors, turbo.

I saw your other post and there are many Cummins Forums, Dodge Forums, Diesel Forums out there. Most of them depend on what you want to do to your truck.

Here is some information about upgrading your truck: Suggested Upgrades
This information will give you a starting point to begin your build.

I am not into the injectors just yet. I want to start with the bsics. Air intake, exhaust, programmer. I want some nice hp but not to overhaul the entire engine. Not yet. Thanks for the suggestion

Basic upgrades start with gauges, then intake, exhaust, etc. Most of these mods will cost about $500 each, depending on how much you want to spend.

Starting with gauges will give you an idea as to how the truck is operating currently. Then when doing something more, you will be able to see if the upgrade helped or hurt your numbers.

Here is another good read on gauges: Gauge Information

With your truck being an '06 you will probably want a rail pressure gauge also.
