Thumbs down not my Ram

I realize this is a swear word but I have a good buddy that bought a 2007 CHEVY with a duramax. He has had it towed 3 times for the crank shaft position sensor. When the dealer gets the truck they let it sit over night and it runs fine in the morning. The codes show up but without the truck " doing it " the factory say, Not a problem. Does anybody have any suggestions ?? I told him to buy a Ram. He wishes he did with all the problems he has had with this truck.

thank you

Has he replaced the sensor? It can be done with simple hand tools in a matter of minutes and they aren't that expensive. It is a common problem with a few different models. For instance, my dad's 2002 F250 7.3L Powerstroke has had the CPS go out. He keeps a spare one in the truck at all times in case it goes out on him again.

Thank you for replying. From my understanding the first time, the dealer replaced the sensor and " recaulked " the sensor to make it water proof. After that the dealer says, " the problem can't be recreated so it doesn't happen", even though it has the codes. Why is it ALWAYS a fight with dealers.
Where can I find how to do this??

Go to the FSC (Full size chevy)forum. It's just like this forum but people with a lot more problems. I am sure somebody on there has posted this repair.

I got a crank sensor code on my truck once, drove fine after but I replaced the sensor anyway. Sensors do go bad, not a lot you can do about it.
