I was kinda thinking that, but even when I fill it right to the top and reset the milage or Lie-o-meter. it will give a reading that reflects the way I'm driving. so I am figuring it is not useing the fuel gauge to calculate milage

 

when i have my camper on and towing my jeep the milage accords the weight difference, when the truck is empty, the same story, when i play ricky roadracer and go wot for awhile the results showing are bang on, only, like i said before, one mile per gallon out.

 

The only thing on my overhead that doesn't seam to work is the temperature and clock. Is there anyway to reset it that anyone knows?

 

ok this may be a "dumb" question, what clock? and do you mean the outside temp.?

 

Mine has clock, fuel mileage, outside temp, and dte settings. I figured since this was about the overhead console this would fit.

 

i don't know about the clock(mine is in the radio), but the temp is governed by a sensor on the front grill, yours might be done.

 

are u sure its a clock on the overhead or is it the time u have put on the tank of fuel?Mine has a time that u reset every tank full and it tells the hours and minutes you have done in that fill up.Also good for trip time.

As for hand calculating vs. computer.Niether are full proof.Hand calculateing isnt a exact unless u can fill your tank to the exact level each time.hard to do.If u fill it until the nozzle clicks off and the nozzle is in the neck or out of the neck a little different each time its not gonna fill to the exact level each fill up. If you are a gallon off each time, your calculation is no better than the computer.Example:say u drive exactelly 200 miles each tank before filling.If u are a gallon off because you think its full,its not gonna be the same MPG. just my opinion.

 

that was my first thought also, the timer gives me a read out on engine hours, does anyone know how to find out the total number of hours on your engine? i heard you could do something through the speedo but i'm not sure.

 

IIRC turn your ignition on, but don't start the truck...on your odometer, it'll either scroll through to hrs or you push the black plunger to set your display to hrs.....

 

I have a 06 dodge 5.9L and my overhead computer is off to much. If it shows 24mpg, I'm getting 15. I don't trust the fact that I can push the reset at an idle showing 20.2, and after an hour idling, it doesn't drop below 9 mpg. it should be zero after a few minutes if you are not moving and push the rest button.
