Default Rusted Muffler

I own a 3500 Mega Cab, with the 5.9 Cummins. The muffler is rusted through on the bottom in two different spots. The rest of the exhaust except for the clamps is in very good condition. There are only 63K miles on the vechicle. I guess I have two questions. First, how can a stainless steel muffler rust out with 63K miles. Is the entire exhaust stainless steel? No matter what, I need a new muffler. The OEM is pricey. What can I put on this vechile? The cummins rattles pretty good by itself, I do not really need alot more rumble, but a little would be nice. How about something that rumbles a litttle bit and is not as restrictive as the original, yet will not srew up the back pressure the cummins needs, or so I've heard.

Thanks

A lot of guys like the Magnaflows and Flowmasters. IDK what will work on a CTD. Perhaps checking in on the CTD section and asking them could help shed more light. I assume you are up north?

I live in Southeastern Wisconsin. Since you have moderator power, could you please move this over to the CTD site?

Thanks!

You have a turbo diesel, no need to worry about anything about back pressure. You can run a pipe straight out of the turbo and up through the hood if you want. If you want a quiet diesel then you best bet is to find the longest and widest aftermarket muffler you can. Most people opt to go the other way and even straight pipe them. You'd be suprised on how much the turbo muffles the exhaust by itself.

The audio on your post is very good! Is that a MBRP muffler on an otherwise stock 4" exhaust? What does sit sound like inside? Did the MBRP muffler install into and fit the stock opening? I googled that muffler and it gets very good reviews, could not find an un happy customer. Where did you buy yours and if you did the install, was it difficult? I know, nothing but questions!

Also, what tires and rims are on the truck in the pic?

as much as id love to answer all of these questions im just a diesel lover living in diesel truck land usa thats not my truck as much as i wish it was its not BUT i can tell you this that truck in the video has a complete turbo back new pipe new muffler new tip so its pricey but personally i think if you straight pipe your truck it would sound pretty close to this but of course a little louder correct me if im wrong but the complete 5" turbo back system with muffler will run you close to $900 but a straight pipe will cost you like $50 but also remember this the bigger the pipe the bigger the sound
