Default exhaust question for my 07 mega cab 5.9l

Hey, I have looked on the forum, but havent found what im looking for.

Im looking at putting a exhaust system on my truck, Im wanting to put a 4" turbo back with a 5 inch tip. father in law has it on his truck but he also has a programmer. Im not wanting to put a programmer on due to the fact that i still have warrenty.

I read on here that going with a 4" turbo back I may loose some bottom end torque due to remvoving that cat. Is that true?

im looking at mbrp or a silverline, but am pretty sure it will be the mbrp... 100 or so bucks difference

any information would be great. thank you

you already have a 4" system, so the eaisyest way to go is just a cat/muffler delete, and you are not going to loose ANY power straight piping a turbo diesel, only gain

Default my two cents

dodge is right, the exhaust on our truck is more than enough up to 525-550 hp. the only thing that changed my mind on a cat/muffler delete, or even a muffler delete, is a rumble/drone that comes in at 1800 - 1900 rpm and runs up to 2200 - 2300 rpm, that is right in my wheelhouse for cruising, my wife and i spend a lot of time, read miles, in the cab of our truck and this would have been very annoying after the toy factor ran out, just my 2 cents.

yup the 03 and newer engines make a lot of noise compared to the earlier engines, we always call it the "55 rumble" in the straight pipe common railes, 55 mph is where it seems to be most noticable, especially under a load, but like dasnake said it will always do it when you are anywhere near 2000 rpm's

with a 5" straight pipe, my 12v even had a pretty good rumble to it at 2000 rpm's, but with the stacks it mellowed it out alot, and gave it a much better tone IMO

yeh well when i actually get a truck and get the money for the stacks i want to modify the system so it splits under the bed instead of in the bed yea there will be some more bends in the exhaust but i dont think it will hurt it so how good do the stacks sound i know i love the look of them on trucks i have seen around town and how they sound but i want to actually ask someone that has them? and do you think you gain anything from it? or does it just sound and look cool?

you wont gain any power, but the sound is awsome.... to split it under the bed you will need a body lift and its would be a real PITA, i did it on my 75 and never again, but the newer trucks, you have to deal with the fuel tank too... my favorite install now, and what i did to my 98, is use a piece of 5x5 square pipe across the bed, caped on each end, single pipe up through the middle, which you cant see, and the stacks posted up on each end of the 5x5
