headlight problem
Hey i am new to this so i hope that i am doing this right. Anyway i drive an 02 dodge 3/4 ton with a cummins and it is having headlight problems. the drivers side headlight works great but the passengers headlight is all screwed up. the light is always very dim in fact it is dimmer than the turn signal. I took the light apart and found that only one element of the bulb works so i replaced it. not the problem. i then took apart both lights and the pugs if you will are totaly different they are a three prong plug aranged in triagle form. on the bad light i found on dim that the two bottom prongs are hot and the top is not. while on bright the left bottom prong and the top prong are hot. when i hit them with an ohm meter they always have 10.84v. I then took apart the good light and found 10.84 v but when on bright the bottom left prong is hot and when on dim both bottom prongs are hot the top always stays common which makes more sence. i just have no clue what is going on i had a guy tell me it could be the dimmer switch but why is it only one light i would greatly appriciate any help thanks

BURNT CHARRED 9004 Headlight Socket
LEFT (Black Purple Red) RIGHT (Red Purple Black) 9004 bulb sockets
Notice wire configuration and socket clips. (EXACTLY in the orientation as removed from '98 Dodge Ram 2500)
LEFT: Ground is FRIED! CHARRED! (both headlights were still working)
CHECK THIS OUT! (1998 Dodge Ram 2500 12V 5.9 P7100) What is up with THIS wiring that IS CURRENTLY on my truck?? PLEASE PLEASE advise:
These are the 9004 light bulb connectors as they were on my truck and ORIENTED in the pictures just as they were mounted on it. The LEFT connector's GROUND was MELTED and ONLY noticed this when changing out the headlight bulbs this evening.
LEFT headlight IS CURRENTLY WIRED: Ground (Black). Low Beam (Purple w/ white stripe). Highs (Red)
Right headlight is CURRENTLY WIRED: Highs (Red) Low Beam (Purple w white stripe). Ground (Black)
Don't believe me? Here are the PICTURES and PLEASE NOTE the connector's clip orientation.
My lights WORK in this configuration... OFF is off, Low Beams are low beam, and High Beams are high beam.
I re-wired NEW Dorman (high performance 9004 connectors PN# 84791) EXACTLY as the old ones were (both of them) were replaced.
IS THIS the CORRECT set-up on these? OR? Am I going to fry another connector? PLEASE HELP. Thanks folks.
