Default Is this a good truck?

I am looking at buying a 2001 Dodge 2500 Ext Cab short bed with a 5.9 cummins. Its an automatic and the tranny was just replaced not too long ago. It has 260000 miles on it. I know thats high mileage, but is it too high?

I don't know man, I've got the '01 HO 6sp manual Tranny and it is the biggest POS I have ever owned. I bought mine with 70K miles and now has 180K.

Mostly (ok almost all of the problems) are fuel delivery.
I have been through Three IP's in 5 years. After the 1st one went, I installed a helper transfer/lift pump to help it out. Also installed a FP gauge.
I got 2 yrs on that one, latest one lasted only 27K miles. WTF?
This is total BS, but common I guess.

I am now taking my IP out myself, installing one more last time and then putting it up on e-bay immediately.

The VP44 seems to have WAY too many issues! Even with plenty of fuel it still dies.
They say 100K miles is what the life of the VP44 is. WTF is THAT? COME ON.

The one thing I CAN say, it goes and pulls like a raped ape when running well!

I'm vying for an F450 with the 7.3 if I can still find one in decent shape.

Good luck.
