Default 09 Ram 2500 Trannsmission issue

Hey guys. I am new to this site. My name is Ben and I live in MS. I bought a used 09 Ram 2500 back in Dec and wouldn't you know it I'm having transmission issues. Current mileage is 50K. My problem is overdrive kicks in/out intermittently on Interstate, and I am unable to tow (28 foot camper) for more than 30 minutes without transmission overheating. I've been to the dealer and they want to re-build....$3000 estimate.

If anyone has any suggestions or words of wisdom I would really appreciate the info.

Also, 4 wheel drive with 6.7L Diesel. Has the 68RFE Transmission.

First thing i would check is the overdrive solenoid. its under the transmission pan on the valve body. they kinda pricey around 200 bucks. but thats the first thing i would check. You can ohn these solenoids out but i dont know the resistance they should be at.

Thanks for the input. I'll give that a try....beats playing "swap-tronics" with transmissions.

Thats very true but somtimes its the only way. Yeah if you can find the resistance specs and ohm your solenoids out you can determine if they faulty

Nope. Powertrain warranty for the 2500 is 3 year/36,000. Doesn't make much sense to me if you warranty the engine for 100K.....
