Are there any fuel additives that can be safely used without throwing codes on the 08 6.7 cummins?

 

Power Service has a couple that shouldn't cause any codes. I run diesel kleen (iirc) because it's readily available locally.

I don't really trust a single product that claims to be good for fuel, oil, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, gas and diesel, etc. etc. etc....

 

i've run diesel kleen and stanadyne, both seem to work pretty well.

im new to diesels, and i have an 08, 6.7..I was told Lucas was good, is this a bad thing?

 

A lot of people swear by Lucas. I've never used it personally, but I'm tempted to put some in my S-10 to try and quiet the lifters down a bit.

I think you should be running a more specific additive for diesel truck engines though. Is your truck stock, or have you done the deletes on the crap in the exhaust?

 

i use stanadyne, recommended by my local dodge dealership
have to buy it at the dealership in my area so its much higher

I also use schaeffee oil, recommended by my local large truck diesel mech shop, they said schaeffee oil helps to lube injectors as the lube additive has been taken out of the fuel, of course they service trucks that run hundreds of thousands of miles, under full load.

will add some additive every 3/4 tank fuel

2005 dodge, it get good mileage and runs good, 50k miles.
