I just bought a 2007 dodge 2500 with the 5.9 cummins engine 125000 miles, the truck runs really good, but when starting it usually cranks a few times before it fires and starts, idk what the problem is, one guy said that its probably normal and another told me my injectors might be getting bad, it starts like theres almost are in the fuel lines or something, idk , the truck runs great once its running, and it starts the same everytime whether the engine is hot or not, if anyone has any advice or info id sure like to hear from you thanks
i noticed that the cooler the engine is the easier the truck is to start, i had run it for an hour down the highway the other day and then shut if off then went to start it again about 10 mins later and i had to crank on it for like 5 secs, could it be a bad sensor or is the injector pump getting weak?, or would weak batteries affect that?
i havent checked it yet, but i think its set at about 700 or 800 rpm when its warm, it runs about 1000 when its cold, ill check it today and get back to you though, thanks
Idle should be at 850 with the air conditioning on full ...mine if the idle is set low is hard to start as well ..so i would check the settings (your year) for be sure it is set right it might be your problem..
i checked the idle and its set right, it still starts hard when the engine is warm, im getting it checked out on monday, i think its probably the injection pump, some kind of sensor or a bad check valve in the lift pump, does anyone have any suggestions?
