Default 2004.5 3500 Transmission service

I am doing this for a buddy he wants to take his truck in for a sevice and get the bands adjusted and so on ...he has a edge programmer with three settings other than that the truck is stock and he leaves it on the middle setting..Just wanting to ask if anyone has any suggestions of what he should have done or upgrades to it or issues with these transmissions .. he tows sometimes 17,000 lb load here and there it is a basic cattle farm use truck..The truck has 250,000 km on it now other than regular services has not had any issues..

45rfe is found in 99/00 grand cherokees and 00 dakotas/durangos with the 4.7 v8. 545rfe is behind every other 3.7, 4.7, 5.7, 6.1, and 6.4. The 68rfe is found behind the 6.7 cummins.

If your buddy has a 2004.5 Cummins, he's got a 48re. Flush the fluid and keep the bands adjusted, that's about all you can do. Keep the temps down, RPMs up when loaded down...

48re if it's an automatic.

And correction for my previous statement, the 545rfe has been used behind many of those, but not all of them in every application.
