BD Power or Suncoast transmission..
Recently I blew the ****ty automatic transmission that came with my 2005 5.9.
No point in rebuilding it to factory specs since it's just going to **** up again.
My truck is used as a plow truck for winter and occassionally pulls 10,000-14,000lb trailers in the summer. So I need a transmission that is up to the job.
Currently my truck is bone stock but in the future I do plan on adding a Banks 6 Gun, intake, and TB Exhaust.
browsing around I came across BD Powers 48RE Replacement coupled with their double clutch TC for around $4000 after core refunds
Also came across the Suncoast's "basic" 48RE replacement with their single disc TC for about $4000 after core refunds.
Not looking to break the bank or push crazy power out of the truck. Just want a transmission that will be up to the work that my truck sees.

I've only got experience with Sun Coast (they're a couple hours up the road) and all I can say is good stuff. BD might be great, ATS might be great.... but I don't have any experience with them. You want a trans that will take some abuse? JP's been flogging his Sun Coast 48re for quite some time - 13.7 second 1/4 mile runs (in street dress, close to 8k pounds), dragging the 44k pound sled out the back door, hauling a 12k pound gooseneck load all over the state...
My truck runs 13.8s at 7500 pounds and street tire pressures, but my suspension is too loose and my truck too light to do really well with the sled.

Just a heads up. Stay away from ATS, Ive had one for a couple years and its been nothing but heads aches. Ive sent the thing back to them 5 times now. I finally gave up on them and found a local guy to fix it next go around.I have heard good things from Suncoast, i heard BD is not to bad but they are better at the imput and out put shafts.
