Default Quick question on Hub and 4wd system

Ok, so I know my passenger side hub is out but prior to it going out my 4wd system would not engage. It has the electronic 4wd so I'd turn the **** and it would flash in 4H or 4L for about 15 to 30 seconds then the light would go back to 2H. I'm hoping and praying that once I replace this hub the 4wd will engage again. I had already replaced the drivers side back in March(I think) so I already know what it takes to replace them.

Thank you much,

Josh

Why would the hub have any bearing on the transfer case shifting? How are your hubs going out?

I'm assuming they're just at that time. It's an 03 with almost 165k miles on it. I know that on my old truck which had the CAD, if the hubs weren't working right, the 4wd system wouldn't lock up.

They're just flanges, the axle shafts spin with the tires 24/7... in these things ALL of it is turning 24/7 so long as it's on the ground.

Typically transfer case issues arise from shift solenoids going out, failure to meet shift requirements, or ABS wheel speed sensors not working.

And since the ABS sensor is built into the hub that could be the problem. Otherwise it's something completely unrelated to the problem.

Does your wheel wobble while going down the road? Your wheel bearings would have to be very shot for the tone ring to hit the sensor. If not that, a rock, stump, or rat would have had to take out the sensor and/or wiring.

It doesn't look like it's wobbling as I go down the road but the bearings are definately shot. As far as what it looks like, the tone ring is probably hitting the sensor. Seeing how a new sensor comes with the hub, I haven't touched the truck until I can get a new hub/sensor. But I spose I should just look further into it after I replace the hub.
