Default 04' Cummins...loud bang under hood, loss of power and white smoke out exhaust

My brother was driving my truck today and was running great. He says there was a loud bang under the hood and loss of power along with white smoke out of the exhaust.

Any suggestions...? Turbo...? Motor didn't make any noise or anything and was still running...he shut it right off and coasted off the roadside.

More then likely that would be a blown turbo.

OK well I am no CTD master but i am a firefighter and the rigs we have all use CTD engines. I have seen this happen on 4 rigs and everytime there is a loud bang, almost instant loss of power and HUGE, i'm talking HUGE amounts of white smoke coming from the exhaust. Everythime it's been a blown turbo. Take it for what its worth, but id bet my next paycheck you got a blown turbo. hope this helps

I know this is probably overly simple but has anyone checked to see if you popped off a intercooler hose? Blew mine on my 01 several times...

Not sure what the OP ended up finding, but this is what I would have checked first... Had it happen many times with the same result. Is the truck stock would be my question though.
