Default Need some advice on what to replace?

I have a 98 dodge 24 valve auto transmission, So my transmission temps are at question here I can run 190 deg down the hwy and city driving long lights trafic will cause my transmission temps to run up to 210 or more if I keep sitting? I am going to get the deep transmission pan next oil change but thats a few months away so a cheep fix now is adding another oil cooler?
So is the temps 190-210 normal and will a oil cooler realy help my temps at idle?
Thanks guys

that seems normal. your not getting airflow while at idle to transfer colder air. trans coolers are always in front of a radiator and condensor so the fan has little effect.

Thanks for the reply! WOW REALY thats hot!!
I did just get under it just now and it all ready has three transmission oil coolers to my suprise, so my new question is each oil cooler has a in and a out port so my truck is wired so to speek the out from the transmission goes in to all three oil coolers and all the out from the oil coolers T together and run back to the in of the transmission?????

I would think it would be better to run it in and out of all three oil coolers in seires what do you guys think and how is yours done?
Thanks again

putting them in series would have more of a cooling effect. i find it hard to beleive there are three of them though. whens the last time the fluid was changed?

I had the oil changed and a little work done on it two months ago. But what it does is T off from the out line from the transmission into two oil coolers and then T out into a oil cooler on the driver side and then out to the IN line to the transmission. I have often woundered if my second gear band needs to be adjusted maybe cousing to much friction?

As a point of reference, when I'm moving down the road my trans temps on a hot day (90 degrees) are about 160, and on cold days (60-70 degrees) I usually see about 120 degrees or so.

I have my thermostate mounted in the side of the transmission just above the oil pan I wounder if it is giving me wrong temps?
Where is you thermostate mounted?

Factory trans temp sensor, not sure exactly where it is, but I gather it's bolted to the valve body somewhere.

The only time I've had any concern for my trans temp at all was while doing 20-30 mph up a 10% grade with a 15k pound trailer in tow. It got to the 220 range before we hit the top (Mt. Rushmore).
