Default Need advice

i just bought a 2007 dodge cummins 2500 5.9, ive always wanted a diesel and i finally got one. i love the power of diesels and the looks. i am now looking to upgrade my truck. i dont wanna spend alot of money on upgrades but im willing to spend alittle. ive been told that the smarty is a good chip to get. but which smarty? but with the smarty do i need other upgrades like air intake? fuel pump? and i wanna straight pipe the exhaust and put about 5 inch tip on, i would like to know what would be the best for my truck and make it have a good lifespan. any advice will help.

If you get a smarty, you can and probably will blow your transmission up if you aren't smart. Start saving for a $5k+ rebuild. That goes for any programmer, really. You'll also want to get a good fuel lift pump and filter. Your stock intake is fine.

Mitchell,

If you have warranty left on the truck or have a service contract, you may want to re-think about chipping the vehicle at this time as it may void either of these coverages.
