Default RPM revs higher at same speed????

As I drive on the hwy going 100 km/h ( 60 mph) the rpms go from 1900 to 2400 without effecting the speed every minute or so. Seems like the clutch is slipping to me. I was just wondering what everyone else here in dodge land would have to say. This is my first Diesel Cummings in my 2000 Ram 2500. I have had dozens of different dodges. Please send some thoughts about the problem. Thanks Joe

Default Throttle position sensor

I think this is the same thing I dealt with. I bought a throttle position sensor for about $35.00 and it took care of all that. It has 2 screws, and unplugs right from the side of the air cleaner, cleared the problem right up. Mine only occurred when the cruise was set, now no issues at all. Hope it helps.

I can set the cruse to 80 or 90 or 100, or do those speeds by my foot and it does the same thing.... revs up a few hundred rpms with out changing the speed. I hope it is as simple as you said there Rick
Thanks
Joe
