Default '05 Hard to get out of park

My dad has an '05 that's extremely hard to get out of park. I couldn't see anything wrong with the linkage by the steering column, it all seemed to be doing it's job fine. I believe it's the valve body. To get it into drive you have to pull the shift lever all the way down. You can't even get the shifter low enough to reach 1st or 2nd. Has anyone had trouble with this?

If so did you go with an OEM valve body or aftermarket?

This is what I was thinking.

Or maybe (seems the BD valve bodies cause some pretty rough shifts and customer service isn't great):

I tried looking around for BTS valve bodies as well...couldn't find them on any site.

Well thanks for the help, I think I figured it out.

Apparently the detent ***** in the valve body go bad in the 48RE's. A local shop can swap it out for like $40.
