What year are you looking at? They've all got their own little issues.

No, the VGT turbos are not garbage - the EGR and DPF systems are garbage and they are extremely hard on the equipment. If you live in an emissions testing area and can't remove the EGR and DPF, then I'd skip the 6.7.

i have a 2005 dodge, 52K miles, so far its been a good truck, plenty of power and gets good mpg.

as said above each model is a bit different,

the auto trans in a 05 model only has 4 forward gears and T/H mode, so you cannot lock out overdrive when towing. Other models i understand you can lockout OD.

In my old chevy 2500 you could place the trans in 3rd and it would not shift to O/D when towing.

Other model dodges have other shift options. So you may want to go with a newer model with the 6 speed auto, if that is what you want.

towing heavy loads in OD might not be what you want to do, but i only tow about 6K, it pulls that with no problems,

last trip i got around 15 mpg towing which is pretty good.
And had all kinds of reserve power on hills.

just a heads up.
