Default Who likes the quiet and who likes the loud?

So who all out there likes the new quieter diesels? Who thinks diesels should sound like a scooter goin down the road not making a sound? And who of you people out the like he sound of a natural diesel truck. Hearin it roar goin down the road. In other words. Who likes knowing they own a diesel and not just a big put put car. Lol

For me. Im a big believer in loud diesels. There not meant to be quiet. A diesel is meant to be loud and rumble. I drive down the street and my neibors come out saying they heard a big rig semi and wake people up. lol. In my opinion thats how it should sound. Just wanna hear other peoples thoughts on the situation. Thanks.

For me, the new diesels are way to quiet for me. I spend 50-60k on a diesel I want everyone to know I got a diesel. But, the first and second gen motors are a little to much for me. So the third gen version is perfect. Loud enough to know its a diesel, but still be able to have a conversation standing next to the truck.

KenZ. Lol. Yea. Thats the point. If my truck is running. I dnt wanna talk lol. Its loud. I cant hear you. Hahaha. But yea. I know wat you mean. And cereal. Its gonna be loud and you will love it. Lol. I love mine straight piped. Plus you get a couple horses out of it. Take the cat and the muffler off. That cat clogs up with so much sutt its not good. Restricts air flow bad. Youll see

Default I got too old...

At some point in your life, you realize that quite is cool. I've also got a giant A/C at the house that I don't want to hear it either but boy do I want it to perform when I need it. I love the idea of stealthing down the street all quiet like. Loud pipes for the sake of loud pipes are rather childish to me. Kinda like shouting "look at me, look at me..."

Default diesel noise

After many years riding in locomotives and losing significant hearing because of it I don't need to hear the noise of my truck engine and loose more. Nor do I need to inflict that noise on others. They don't need to have hearing lose resulting from my truck.

I was thinking about welding in a 4" cutout. That way I can run the muffler in town and then switch to wide open when I'm on the back roads

After having owned a 6.7 and now a 12-valve, quiet is good. I like to be able to hear. The 12-valve isn't too loud inside, nor is it obnoxiously loud with the 4" muffled exhaust.

Straight pipes are fine for the drag strip or sled track, but in town and especially in residential areas it's just rude.

I gotta go with Saltsman on this one ...

"At some point in your life, you realize that quite is cool. I've also got a giant A/C at the house that I don't want to hear it either but boy do I want it to perform when I need it. I'm about to turn 55 and quit drag racing cars a couple of years ago. When I was racing the volume was as much fun as the speed ... Now it's all about performance.

I like a quiet drive to the Rockies knowing I have the power and torque to take any trail I want. It doesn't matter one flat lick to me if anyone else knows I'm in a diesel or not.
