Default Running 100% Alternative Fuel In A 1983/84 8.2 Dodge Detroit Diesel in an RV?

Hello,

I was not sure what section to post this in...

I have a 1983/84 8.2 Dodge Detroit Diesel in an RV.

Has anyone simply poured Waste Vegetable Oil , Used Motor Oil, Used Automatic Transmission Fluid straight into the tank without using any in-line heaters, different injectors, etc? I would put a couple of finer micron inline fuel filters for sure. ALL of the traveling/driving is going to be taking place in a really warm climate.

Does anyone see any issues with this?

If not, what size micron filters would you use?

I'm no expert on this. I would say you might have OK results using the waste veggie oil if you pre filter it. I still think you're going to need to use some sort of pre-heater with it.

As far as used motor or trans fluid, I would steer clear of that completely. There are so many contaminants and additives in there, I don't think there's any way you could get it filtered out enough to be safe for the fuel injectors or high pressure pump.

You should search some more on the web about alternative fuels, WVO, bio-fuels.... I'm sure you'll find others with much more experience on this than what I have.

And I'm going to go contrary to what he just said...

my co-worker Rene uses trans fluid in his 2002 Cummins. He has a tank setup at home that filters to 2 or 3 microns and separates water in a two step process, and then he cuts it with gasoline.

That's right, gasoline and transmission fluid, that's the majority of what he runs. I'm not sure what his ratio is, but I think it's about 2 gallons of gas to a 30-gallon tank of trans fluid.

Does he just dump this directly into his tank with nothing else special being done?

He filters it in his garage, mixes it, then dumps it in his tank.
