weird electrical issues i have..


When the door opens when the key is like the truck is running or not, the door jam switch that activates the dome light also turns on the Water in Fuel light?!?! WTH is that about? any clues. .this one i am totally stumped by.. either passager or drivers day, doesnt matter turn on the Water in fuel light on the dash..

if anyone has any thoughts on any of these I would appreciate it!!!

Does it light up a door ajar lamp in the cluster too? Is there a door ajar lamp? Is it possible they've gotten crossed?

What year truck are we talking about?

i wondered about a door ajar light too.. however i dont see one in the dash... that i can tell

 

Interesting. The door switch interrupts the ground to the Central Timer Module when open, completes it when closed.

I'm not sure how the WIF ties into that though.

 

I unplugged the green connector to the CTM and of course the dome lights went out.. but same with the WIF light.. i could manually turn the dome lights on and the WIF didnt come on.. so its only tied in SOMEHOW to the door light switch

I just purchased the truck last week, just trying to fix a few issues.

I'm wondering if the CTM was swapped out and it thinks it needs to turn on the Door Ajar light, but in the diesel its a WIF light? ?

I dont know HOW those two would be connected at all. . but its for sure only has to do with either door switch opening

 

A co-worker of mine has an 02 cummins, and a former co-worker's 01 (iirc) v10 truck is waiting for trans work at our shop, I'll investigate a little tomorrow.
