Cool Security light flashes , no start

Hey everyone, need some help . I got a 2006 dodge ram 3500 5.9 diesel truck . I just replaced the engine , so the batteries have been dis-connected for five days .Security light is flashing and engine will crank , but wont start. Im confident all the wiring is correct and grounds are grounded properly . I can't hear the pump when i turn key forward either . Ive checked all the fuses . Is it not recognizing my keys ? ANy help would be appreciated .

On my 08, the ECM was bolted to the side of the engine. Is your 06 the same way?

If so, did you keep the ECM from your original engine, or did the new engine come with a new ECM?

To me it sounds like an immobilizer issue. I think Dodge calls it Sentry Key or some such thing. Anyway, there's a chip in the key that has to get programmed into the BIU/ECM or the truck won't start.

Might be time to drag it to the local dealer.

If the theft system was kicking in, the truck would start and run for a few seconds and die. Eventually after so many attempts the truck would not crank over.

actually after talking to the mechanic at dodge , it was the main connector on the harness plug , (the big plug ) driverside of the valve cover on at the back . Two clips on the side were broken , the lever still pushed together , but didnt make a good connection . Used ziptie too hold together . works fine now .

Well that's good. Glad it's fixed, although it's too bad you got popped for the tow and diag time.
