I was driving home today and the check engine light came on, the wife read in the owners manual it does not always mean a drivability problem.
I drove a bit futher and noticed i was blowing a bit more smoke. Noticed the fuel tank was beginning to move towards empty. Had to find fuel quick, but the truck stopped before I could get fuel. Looked at the area around the fuel filter housing and actually up and aft. The insulation on fire wall was dripping with fuel. A lot of fuel tubing in that area. Couldnt start since out of fuel. Had to tow to shop. What is the most common cause of this fuel leak? It went through an 1/8 tank in no time.
I hope it is a split tube, or loose nut. Any ideas or histories of this out there?

Looks like the number four fuel injection line split. No corrosion or anything, just split. How long is the warranty on something like this, its an 06

It would be covered under the 3/36, not sure if it is covered under the 5/100, also don't know if its covered if you bought a Dodge extended warranty.

 

Probally not covered on a 2006. Injector line #4 is part #5086874aa and retails for about $57.50. Make sure the bolt that goes through the little blue bushings is tight, as that is the root cause of the problem.

 

Champion, you were spot on. I recently bought the truck and am learning about it.
Someone must have already replaced this fuel line # 4 because it was silver and the rest of the 5 fuel lines are golden in color. The mechanic that repaired it said the blue clamps were not on the line thus it vibrated to failure. Good Call.
I picked the truck up and everthing seems fine, then the engine light came on again, the truck seems like it misses a bit when coasting, everything seems fine while accelerating. I hope it is just air in the line or something simple. Anyone with a similar problem?? Anyway, will take it back tomorrow to see why the engine light is on. Thanks JB
