I have worked the leads to the sensors thinking it might be that but can't get anything out of it.

Had the same thing on my 00. Not sure if it is the same on your year model but it turned out to be the sensor on top of rear transfer case.

Your 00 should have been the speed sensor on the top of the rear differential.

The newer trucks have different axles, and it sounds like there's something wrong in the wiring.

Does the light come on if you're sitting still while turning the wheel back and forth? If so, unbolt one sensor and tie it up somewhere that it won't get moved and try turning the wheel again, then repeat for the other side.

Default lead

It turned out to be the lead wire to the sensor on the wheel hub assembly.I worked with it some more and got it to act up,changed the sensor and wire and that took care of it.
Thanks guys.
