Default Oil Changes and Brand

What kind of oil does everyone use in their CTD? Also, how often do you change your oil?

going 10K, Delo-400, Fleetguard Stratopour.

soon going to try and start oil analysis and changing over to synthetics to extend the interval.

edit: BTW, I change the oil myself, easier to pay $25 and dump the used oil at work than pay the $80 for the stealer to do it

Can you use traditional oil and synthetics like Mobil 1 in the cummins?

when the truck comes off the line only the engine is filled with dino juice. the tranny, transfer, and diffs have synthetics.

I was reading up about when would be the best time to change to synthetics for the engine and found out one can change to them at any time no problems.

Has anyone heard or use Amsoil? Is it worth the money?

oil. . .that can be a touchy subject. personal preference to oils is just about as strong as brand loyalty to cars.

now while Amsoil does make good stuff, it can be rather pricey.

Shells Rotella Heavy Duty 15w-40 works great in my father's truck. He prefers to change every 7500.

For the price and quality of the oil, a little bit of smell isn't much of a problem.

I ran Mobile 1 in my Ford/Navistar diesel without any problems. I'd be curious to know if the M1 meets CD specs.
