2008 Dodge Ram 3500 6.7L Performance Advice Needed
I've got a stock 2008 Dodge Ram 3500, 4x4, dually, 6.7L, crew cab, long bed. It's got 72,000 on it and I use it primarily for pulling a 5th wheel camper. It's running great, but I think the performance might be improved.
Most important to me is to improve mileage without compromising the towing power. Secondarily, I want to stop the diesel exhaust particles from accumulating on the rear end.
Any recommendations?

About the only way to increase mileage is deleting the emissions; block off the EGR and remove the cooler, and get rid of the DPF. All code free via programming such as EFILive or H&S or Smarty. I don't believe there are many gains to be had for intakes or DPF-back exhaust.
Best bet is EFILive IMO.

Technically, deleting the emissions makes the vehicle not usable on the street. Now, depending on where you live, and whether or not you need to have inspections and/or emissions testing, largely dictates what you can do. No inspection/emissions, the likely hood of you getting pulled over and someone crawling under the truck looking for exhaust mods is slim to none.
Now, if the truck is used commercially, that's another issue.
Mileage seems to run a max of 8 or 9 towing, and typically in the 12-15 range on highway, stock. Deleted, you may be looking at 10-12 towing and 20+/- on the highway. Obviously, there are MANY variables in both situations.
As for power, you're truck will completely change; it will breathe and exhale better, run better, and last longer. And it won't even know there's anything behind it...you're truck stock puts down about 260hp to the tires; deleting and a mild tune can be 350, and a good strong daily driver tune in the 430 range. Plenty of pep

I have a 2008 dodge dually 6.7 L diesel. I am wondering if changing to a AFE Power filter system and a bully tuner will do anything to increase power and fuel economy without doing anything to the emission system? Bob
