Question 01 2500 lift pump bypass

So I've been given some wrong advice and in turn I think I have ruined my lift pump. My fuel gage was not working so I went to Napa and ordered a fuel pump assembly with the gage for in the tank. I didn't know my lift pump was on the block so I thought I was replacing the right part. It ran for about 50 miles then sputtered and died. The pump in the tank I just replaced still works (tested it with a battery). I need to know how to bypass my old lift pump and use the one I know have in my tank. Dodge told me they make a kit that comes with everything for 550. They also told me they could sell me the wiring harness with the relays for 100 bucks but wouldn't tell me how to bypass the old lift pump. And then said I would still have to bring it in and have it flashed with some updated software. Please help?

When you installed the new sender/pump assembly, it plugged right in and you didn't have any issues with connectors or hoses?

I would have recommended going with a new OE sender to stick in your tank, and a FASS DDRP replacement pump.

Thanks, think that's what I'm going to do! Don't want to have to take the bed off again for fuel pump issues.

Correct! The only problem I had is that the pump I put in was not pumping cause I did not have the correct wiring harness to supply power to the pump.is caused my original lift pump to fail because it was trying to pull fuel through a none working pump.

Gotcha.

I hope you kept the factory sender hanger, you should be able to swap in the good sender card.
