Default Old Marine/Dodge Diesel/Needs Help

Hi Guys & gals
Unlike everyone else I did NOT do any research before buying my very first Diesel and Now I think i may have screwed up?? First of all I heard ANYONE who owned a 2007 automatically had a Lifetime powertrain warrenty BUT thats ONLY for the Original owner??? thats NOT fair??? a 2007 is a 2007 whom EVER owns it...I bought mine last night and it has 59000 miles on it...Its a Laramie/6.7 diesel/4x4/Mega Cab/Ram 2500 and other than a 8 inch lift and Chrome 22s on open country Toyos I gues everything else is ALL stock...Now mind you I am 58 yrs old and know NOTHING about a diesel what all can I Do to Get the MOST fuel milage I can possibly get??? I went to Banks site and for a 5.9 there are TONS of items to buy for more milage & Horsepower BUT for a 6.7 all Banks had was a Air Box with a Snorkle??? thats it??? I realy could use ANY and all help that will save me fuel milage...Plus I TRIED for an HOUR to upload My pictures of my truck in My garage and NO pictures but now 5 albums???? I Give Up!!!!!.....Thanks and GOD BLESS

Congrats on the Megacab, best truck ever made. For the 6.7, the best way to get a few more MPG's is to take the emissions off (DPF, Diesel Particulate Filter, and EGR, Exhaust Gas Recirculator) of it and get a tuner to disable the codes and put a mileage tune on. electronic tuners are the way to go on modern diesels. Best options for tuners are a Smarty and H&S. The 6.7 is a good motor and with only 59,000mi your not even broke in yet.

Default Exhaust

I think you are saying Replace My Exhaust???Because I went to Banks plus a couple others and NO One Offers a Exhaust From the TURBO Back which is what I wanted to replace......Replace from the Turbo all the way to the end of exhaust getting RID of 3 funny looking mufflers??????
All the Kits I saw are only from the Muffler back....Like 2 pieces of pipe????

Banks is not the only place for us diesel guys to get aftermarket performance parts. You may want to check out http://www.alligatorperformance.com/ or http://www.rollinsmokediesel.com/ both of these places are well respected in the diesel community for helping solve issue like you are having. One word of caution "any modification done to your truck may void any warranty you have left on your truck." As a Ram dealership employee I've seen first hand what some customers assume about the aftermarket performace parts and their factory warranty. You are also talking about removing Emission componants from your truck which is an EPA no-no. There are few owners that actually get caught by local and federal law enforcement, but that is a choice you must make for yourself. I hope this may clear up the muddy waters for you.

Essentually yes... Yes it will void your warranty if you have one and yes you are removing federal emission componants. The pay off is a much better breathing engine, more power, better fuel economy, it will probably be in for service related issues less, and you will probably prolong the life of your engine.

Think of these emissions sytems like this. If your a smoker, every time you exhail your smoke imagine trying to blow it through a restrictive filter before it exits your lungs, and before your smoke goes through the filter, a portion of is recirculated back into your lungs "every time" you inhale. Think about what a cigarette filter looks like and all the crap it filters out, and try to picture what your intake system will look like after a few thousand miles and how much harder you have to blow when you exhail through a filter.

You also dont have to worry about build up of diesel fuel in your crankcase and exhaust if you delete the DPF. Is it a perfect system, no. Does it work as intended, most of the time. Does it cause more headaches than solutions, probably.

Do some research on it, there are millions of threads and debates around the internet. You will just have to weigh your pros and cons to decide if that is something you want to do to your truck.

If you do decide to keep the exhaust, an electronic programmer is your best option to pick up some power and mpg.
