I run ashless 2-stroke oil from wally world. but that will damage your emissions controls on the 6.7, so either soypower biodiesel, or opti-lube is the best bet for you.
the chart shows the lubricity of the fuel after the additive. lubricity in the fuel is good for the injectors, lift pump, and injection pump.
helps keep injectors from sticking, and reduces injection pump and lift pump wear.
btw chart above was a professional study done by a diesel performance shop. it is completely unbiased as they were simply trying to find out what works and what does not.
this chart shows bosch (oem injection pump manufacturer for all cummins generations injection pumps and injectors) test results for pump wear based on fuel lubrication

Every fill up unless I fill with B5 biodiesel.
128:1 mix or 1oz per gallon.
I buy it by the gallon at walmart for $12/gal a gallon will get me through 4 32 gallon fill-ups.
optilube will not harm the DPF.
just don't tell them you run it and they can't prove it

no prob.
between the 2-cycle oil diet, and a good lift pump, I have had zero fuel system problems. injection pump is happy and healthy even with me pushing over 500hp out of it. never misses a beat.
lubrication used to not be a problem, but they changed our fuel back in 2007 which caused the lubrication problem. ultra low sulfur diesel has been stripped of its lubricity. while it may be good in the newer diesels, its harsh on the older diesels that were not designed for it.
