Unhappy Electrical Problem with my 2008 Ram 2500

Hey can anyone help me out with this. Last spring I replace my batteries with the high end eliminator batteries just due to date, Well already they seem to be running down when the truck was sitting I would always have to boost it. When I boosted it I had no problem driving it around and my alternator seemed to be charging them. So I replaced them again it started no problem obviously then I drove it 700km to work and the gauge for charging came on. I think now the problem was always the alternator and even when I drive it if I shut it off right away it will hardle start.
Is it my alternator could it be anything else the lighting bolt is also on now it just came on. I am in a remote area cant drive it back to town and tow trucks dont come out here. How hard is it to change?

Lightning bolt? It's been a while but isn't that the electronic throttle control symbol?

The alternator shouldn't be hard to swap out, but I'd have it tested instead of just throwing parts at it. The voltage regulation is usually done in the PCM on Chryslers.

Xerxes,

I would recommend reviewing the battery warranty with the manufacturer or a Dodge dealer. I did notice you had your location as Sherwood Park and there is a Dodge dealer located in that area. If you'd like to locate your closest dealer you can check out the link I posted.

The light that you are referring to is the Electronic Throttle Control and informs you of a problem with that system. Is the light on while the engine is running or is it flashing? If the light is lit while the engine is running, the vehicle will usually be drivable, however, you should see a Dodge dealer for service as soon as possible. If the light is flashing, immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or engine stall and may require towing.

If you have any other inquiries feel free to PM, I'd be happy to review any questions or concerns you have.
