Default heater blend mode acting screwy

I know there is a common problem with the heater blend doors on these pickups but I don't think that's my problem. We dropped the dash, disconnected the blend door motor and manually the heater control works fine so I put an actuator motor on it. Still have the same problem. It works fine on all hot or all cold but if try to adjust any where in between it does what it wants to do. Some times one spot on the dial is hot and some times that same spot on the dial is cold which makes it impossible to dial in a comfortable temperature someone suggested the ac control panel. Expensive guess !! Any ideas?? Its a 2004 ram2500 c code cummins
