Ctd with a 6sp man have lower hp and tourqe than automtics...as for mpg, empty or towing 2wd or 4wd its the driver whos going to influence mpg numbers.
I prefer the 6sp man...all hd rams now have 342 rear end gearing as for def fluid, I doubt thier are nanny 2013 rams roaning the highways as thier are a lot of idel 2012 on dealer lots..

Fuel mileage is going to get better with the DEF and there are less moving parts with the 2WD so there should be less fuel usage. However, since vans, pickup trucks and SUV's weighing more than 8500 pounds gross vehicle weight are classified as heavy-duty vehicles, fuel economy regulations do not apply. These vehicles are not tested and fuel economy labels are not posted on the window sticker.
As Cyclone429 mentioned, the actual mileage you can expect depends on the individual driving habits of the person using the vehicle, the conditions under which it is driven and the vehicle’s mechanical condition.

I just bought a new 2013 Ram 2500 mega cab 4x4 with the auto trans and 3.42 gears. This model has the def. truck is lifted and has 37"x13.5x20 Toyo m/t tires. I am pleased to say that i am getting between 16 and 17mpg! I think if this was a stock truck you would see it in the 20+mpg. Ive only got 1500 miles on it so it may get better when its broke in.
