Default Air Conditioning Just Stopped Working

My air conditioning has suddenly stopped working. The light comes on when I press the AC button, but no cool air. What steps should I take to determine what the problem is? I've added coolant before on other cars, but not this truck (if that's the problem). Thanks!

BTW, the truck is NOT what is listed in my signature. It's a 2007 2500 with a 5.9 CTD.

Start the truck and open the hood.
Turn on the AC and check to see if the compressor clutch engages, if not start looking at fuses and wiring connections if possible.

If the clutch does engage, find the line that heads from the compressor to the condensor (Radaitor) and CAREFULLY touch it. It should be hot to the touch as that is a compressed gas that needs to cool. If it is just warm then you may need to recharge the system.

You can also find the any exposed metal on the suction line coming from the cab area to the compressor and see if it is cool or sweating. If so, you should have at least some refrigerant in the system.
Start there and let us know what you find.

Ensure the condensor fan is working as well.

check if the compressor is engaging while ac is on max.

if no engage, then unplug the sensor on top of the dryer (aluminum bottle with aluminum lines and a sensor on top that is attached to the firewall) and jump the sensor cord connections with a paperclip and see if the compressor comes on at that point. report back once you get that far...

Hey TitansFan, Did you get the A/C working?
It is nice to have a little closure on these posts for future searches.
