diesel fuel is combustable. squeeze it hard enough it explodes. and that is exactly how a diesel fires. it sucks in air, squeezes it hard enough for diesel detonation, then it injects diesel into that already compressed cylinder which causes an explosion inside the cylinder giving you power.
spark plugs are only found on gasoline, propane, natural gas, and alcohol engines. you will never find them on diesel engines...
closest thing you might find are glow plugs which the dodge cummins engines do not use. they instead use an intake grid heater.
