Default Fass/Airdog Installation

All~ I have a 98 12 valve and would like to upgrade the fuel delivery system. I have a transfer pump on the drivers side of the block. Is there a way to determine if an in tank up grade was performed? In addition, if determined no tank modifications where done do I have to drop the tank to complete a airdog 100 installation? I understand you bypass both the filter canister and transfer pump. Also the airdog has a adjustable pressure regulator. What pressure should this be set at for the p7100? The 1/4 tank issue, will dropping the tank and installing the fuel module upgrades improve this?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated, Thx.

If the block mounted pump is still hooked up, you most likely don't have a pump in the tank. Chances are that you've got the factory sender that won't cause any 1/4 tank problems. Personally, if you're not going crazy with injectors and turbo(s), I'd splice into the stock line on the frame rail - unless you are dropping the tank or lifting the bed anyway.

Default fass/airdog installation

Thanks~ I do have the original pump. I guess what I'm asking is do I need to install A draw straw in the tank. If not can I just connect the fuel lines to the top of the module without removing the tank?

I'm not familiar with what comes in the ddrp kit. What you have is a draw straw, so you don't really need to get an aftermarket one UNLESS you're going to get stupid with your fuel consumption and you need a 1/2" or larger pipe.

who're you callin stupid?!

I have 1/2" draw straw, 1/2" fuel line, and 150GPH pump.

and with all of that can still cause a 4psi drop in fuel pressure

airdog100 should have everything you need to plug new lines into the factory draw straw...

Yeah see now you've gone stupid with your fuel consumption, and you'd see a bigger drop if you went with stock sized lines...

Default Fass/Airdog install

Thanks for all the sound advise. I'm leaning towards a DF 100 Airdog install. I plan on doing it myself, looks like a pretty straight forward install. Just checked my mileage and averaged 20.5 on freeway.

Even though I've got an airdog, I'd recommend going with the FASS. Airdog changed ownership since I got mine and things just aren't the same. Maybe they've gotten a lot better in the last year and a half, but when I called to get "all of the bits I need in order to move my airdog 150 from my 08 to my 98 12-valve" I got a whole lot of "huh". Then I bought a bunch of parts from them, half of which are still in my tool box because I didn't really need them, and I had to source some hard to find stuff locally to get it on the road.

Oh, and I'd like to go, but no way it's happening. I need to build a tranny still. Got a nv4500/5600 lying around that you don't want?
