No Power to the Fuel System PreHeater
HELP! When I turn the key-no power to the fuel system preheater in my 1994 Dodge Ram Truck with Cummins Diesel Engine. When put a jumper wire to the preheater-it does heat. Is there a relay before the preheater? Any suggestions are appreciated.
if it were my truck, I wouldn't even worry about it. it's not going to do you any good if your fuel gels anyway.
if the lift pump can't push it, then it's not going to get to the injection pump anyway.
I have an airdog fuel system that completely bypasses the stock filter/pre-heater and have not had a single issue in the winter.
mopar1973man runs the same fuel system and lives in the middle of nowhere in idaho and gets -20 weather at times during the winter and never has an issue with no fuel heater.
making sure your fuel doesn't gel in the first place is important. your injection pump will heat the fuel enough with heat from the engine.
all of that being said, your fuel heater should come on with the grid heaters. if your grid heaters haven't come on yet, then it's probably not cold enough where you are for the fuel heater to come on.
