Default 2000 24 Valve Cummins problem

Hello, This is my first post, hopefully you guys will have some good information for me. My 2000 Dodge 2500 24 Valve Cummins is having some problems. I just bought the truck 2 weeks back and its now starting to chug while driving down the highway every once in a while. Then last night I was coming up to a red light and the truck died. I coasted around the corner and it still wouldnt start. Tried it again and still nothing. I let it sit for 2 minutes (maybe) and then she started right up. Its done it two more times since then, but it starts up and idles fine.

It has the Aid Dog fuel system on it, just went to my neighbors house and he said the fuel looked clean, but I still have a new set of filters on order (ordered this morning) If you guys have any ideas as to what this would be that would be greatly appreciated. If any more information about the truck is needed please feel free to ask.

Thank you very much for your time!

Nick~

You need to retrieve your codes. I think your truck is protecting you with limp mode.
Either an OBDII code reader will do or the key trick.

The key trick for your 2000 is key on-off-on-off-on and read dash display. Then you can tell these guys what codes you are getting and they can advise you. K.

Check fuel pressure.

you need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it ASAP. No vp44 truck should be without a 0-30psi fuel pressure gauge.

Fuel pressure is always good to know. Sounds like your crank position sensor may be going out. Happened to my buddy a week or two ago in his 2000.

A CP sensor would also give you RPM right, or do they get that off of a different sensor? Because the tach doesnt work either. Waiting for a little warmer weather to go digging around in all the electrical issues.

Thanks for all the advice guys!
