Default CTD....Which Oil?

I just purchased a 05 - 2500 quad - auto - 2wd... I've owned several new trucks. This is by far my favorite.

I'm beginning to think about getting my oil changed for the first time. Any suggestions for what type of oil to use?

I live in North Texas and may be driving the truck north into the cold weather some.

Thanks

I would go with the traditional 15/40 in a brand of your choice such as rotella or delvac.

Rotella T is some good stuff, but you will need a gas mask handy cause the stuff has an offensive odor.

past that, Rotella is some good stuff but working on Cat dozers, a Freightliner tractor, and other large equipment for a few years it'll get to you[:@]

Hello Team:

Will be OK to use ROTELLA® T Synthetic in my first oil change..??? I have always use this oil in my previous car and motorcycle, but never in a new truck, so will be OK to use synthetic...??? Also according to the dealer first oil change is due at 3,000 miles, is that true...?? I was on the understanding that every 15,000 miles, I ride mostly in the city and so so stop & go traffic. Also Summers here in Houston are very hot and very high humidity.
Also how easy is to change the oil for DIY's..?? (Do it yourselfers)

Thanks!

I'm running Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 in mine. You should not have a problem running 15,000 miles on synthetic with your type of driving. Sounds like you are not really pulling heavy loads so heat is not even a factor.

What kind of bike do you have?

I run good ol Rotella T 15-40 Diesel Approved Oil. It has been ran in my 98 since the first owner bought the pick-up. (have the service records to prove) I'm goin on 98000 miles and no problem yet. Iv always been a fan of Rotella. Ran it in everything iv owned. The only other oil iv used is John Deere SAE 40 but not in this pick-up.
